云顶集团's 亚洲研究 minor gives students a complete perspective of Asia, sp安ing from Pakistan and India in the Southwest to Malaysia and Indonesia in the Indo-Pacific 地区. The curriculum in the 亚洲研究 minor is designed to provide an immersion into a variety of Asian topics from history to 政治. 加上宽度 program, 地区s students will be studying include Southwest Asia, the Middle East, 东亚、东南亚和环太平洋地区.

亚洲研究 a globally oriented field of study, and, as such, studying in Asia 是小调的基本组成部分吗. 学生 in 亚洲研究 are ordinarily required to study abroad in Asia, either on an ICA or a semester-long program. 学生应该 discuss this with the program director, especially when their major might require 到亚洲以外的国家留学. 云顶集团 College has approved study abroad semester programs in China (Shanghai, Chengdu, and Hong Kong), Japan (Tokyo and Osaka), South Korea (Seoul and Gwangju), Thailand (Chiang Mai), and India (Bangalore, New Delhi, Jaipur). Previously, ICAs to Tokyo and Taipei (HIS 272Y), Beijing (ED 272Y), and Bali (SOA 272Y) have been 提供ed and may run again in the future. 亚洲研究的云顶集团 strongly encouraged to study abroad with one of these 云顶集团-led or partner programs. Or, they are encouraged to locate a different program, especially if they wish to pursue more advanced language study or study a language that 云顶集团 does not currently 提供.

The 亚洲研究 minor consists of a combination of language study and courses in 其他的学科.

语言学习

学生 are expected to complete 12 credits of study in a foreign language native 到各个地区. 云顶集团 currently 提供s courses in Mandarin Chinese, and students who study Chinese are expected to complete at least CHN 110, 120, and 130. 学生 who arrive at 云顶集团 having already studied the Chinese language, or who are native speakers, must still meet the expectations of the minor regarding foreign language (12 credits), which will enable students to meet 云顶集团’s Foreign Language requirement (见 在这里 细节).

学生 who wish to study a 地区al language that 云顶集团 does not teach can do so through the Baltimore Student Exchange Program, study abroad, and/or intensive 夏天的计划. Interested students should speak with both the Chair of 亚洲研究 and the Chair of the Center for Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures before enrolling in any such program to ensure that it meets the expectations of the minor 和云顶集团的外语要求. 请注意，还有许多其他的程序也教 three-credit courses, so students studying languages outside of 云顶集团 still need 达到12学分的最低要求.

In addition to language classes, students must complete 20 credits from the list above. At least one of these courses must be at the 300-level. 出国留学学生 for a semester can have up to eight non-云顶集团 credits count towards the minor, outside 语言课程.
